Stunning Kitchen Connection

Turner Troxell enlarged this 1940s Wiltondale corner lot home to provide a modern sunlight-drenched kitchen that simply makes you feel wonderful to be in there!  The home has a classic front entrance, but the everyday side entry was lacking, so we created a handsome side entry leading into a spacious mudroom and kitchen space with an 11 ft island.  The addition was designed to connect the previously disconnected garage with the rest of the home and adds light and storage making a bright and airy space for family and friends.

Particular attention was paid to heating and cooling since the addition added 2 glass filled exterior walls and door openings.  The homeowners elected to utilize retractable screens on the French doors so they disappear completely when not in use, allowing the sun to splash fully across the room.  Custom built cubbies and other storage areas were created to compliment the new kitchen cabinetry.  The interior and exterior of this new room delightfully complements the 1940s structure and makes the home so much more functional for the family.
